Recent highlights

On Sep 29, 2026, OVR Technology opened reservations for Omara Core 10, a $179 desktop scent display designed to add synchronized fragrance to PC gaming. The company said deliveries are expected to begin in 2027; that is a stated delivery expectation, not a completed shipment milestone. The announcement adds a lower-priced desktop product to the company’s Omara lineup and gives the platform a gaming-focused entry point. Earlier, on Mar 30, 2026, OVR showcased an Omara scent display at PAX East, where the device was presented as releasing context-specific smells during games. Together, these dated milestones show a shift from demonstrating scent-enabled gaming hardware toward taking reservations for a specific consumer product. OVR’s broader offering also includes developer tools and scent cartridges, suggesting that the hardware launch is part of an ecosystem rather than a standalone device. Publicly available company updates provide limited detail on reservation volume, commercial partnerships, or shipment progress.

Market position

OVR Technology operates at the intersection of consumer hardware, gaming software, and digital scent. Its products aim to extend interactive experiences beyond visual and audio cues: Omara devices release fragrances in response to supported game events, while its Architecture of Scent framework and Unity and Unreal plugins provide ways to connect scent triggers to interactive content. The product range includes desktop scent displays, multi-channel cartridges, a companion app, and fragrance resources, giving the company both hardware and integration components. This is a narrower proposition than conventional gaming peripherals, which generally focus on input, display, or audio, and it depends on compatible content as well as consumer interest in scent-enabled play. The September 2026 reservation announcement for the $179 Omara Core 10 signals a consumer-gaming focus, while developer tools remain relevant to broader immersive applications.

Growth & opportunities

OVR Technology’s growth signals point to a small, active company building from immersive-technology applications toward consumer gaming hardware. Founded in 2017 and based in Burlington, Vermont, it is listed in the 11–50 employee range. Product development offers clearer milestones: the company has described Omara scent displays, replaceable cartridges, the Scent Studio companion app, and Architecture of Scent tools for integrating fragrance triggers into games and interactive experiences. On Mar 30, 2026, OVR showcased an Omara device at PAX East. On Sep 29, 2026, it opened reservations for the $179 Omara Core 10, with deliveries stated as expected to begin in 2027. That reservation opening is the clearest commercial inflection point in the available timeline, moving beyond demonstration toward a defined consumer offer.
