Aural Analytics

Aural Analytics occupied a specialized position at the intersection of digital biomarkers, clinical speech analytics, neuroscience, and mobile health. Its core differentiation was the use of ordinary smartphone or tablet speech recordings to generate objective, continuous, and clinically interpretable measures of neurological health. That approach targeted a limitation of conventional functional rating scales: coarse assessments that may miss incremental patient changes between visits. Speech Vitals extended the proposition beyond neurological monitoring to respiratory health, while A2E enabled third-party applications to embed the analytics across platforms and languages. The company later secured a $1.4 million National Institutes of Health grant on Jul 7, 2022, bringing cumulative funding to $6.05 million across four rounds. Product development expanded from mobile speech-assessment applications to Speech Vitals, a clinical-grade analytics platform, and A2E, an SDK for embedding speech analytics into external applications. Leadership development included Jim Gemmell’s CTO appointment in 2019 and four advisory-board additions in 2020. The key inflection point was the Mar 11, 2024 acquisition by Linus Health. Aural Analytics is now recorded as closed, meaning its independent growth trajectory ended with that transaction rather than continuing as a standalone venture.
