About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant to join the Data Operations team at our Boston site. Our Boston site is part of a network of research sites where we collect non-invasive brain activity and behavioral data from human participants to train and validate our models. The role focuses on clinical research in mental health, working with both diagnosed patients and healthy controls. Reporting to the Clinical Operations Lead, this is a hands-on, shift-based role that gives students real-world experience in an advanced clinical research environment, working alongside the team building cutting-edge NeuroAI models.
In this position you will:
- Run participant research sessions onsite - greet participants, walk them through the consent process, set up equipment (EEG and other devices), and guide them through the research protocol
- Collect session metadata and ensure high data quality
- Follow study SOPs carefully and flag anything unusual
- Help maintain the lab space and equipment, and support participant scheduling as needed
- Gain hands-on experience with how clinical studies run end-to-end, including working with human participants, protocol execution, software tools, and data quality
Our ideal candidate will:
- Biology, Health/Medical Sciences, Social Work, Nursing, or a related field
- Have at least 4 semesters remaining in their studies, including the current semester, and be able to commit to the role for that period
- Be comfortable working directly with and supporting people, including participants experiencing mental health challenges
- Have previous work or volunteer experience with patients with mental health or brain health conditions - strongly preferred
- Be reliable, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy, with a willingness to work with both devices and software systems
- Be interested in developing technology and AI for mental health and neuroscience
- Be available for consistent shifts and willing to train and work onsite
No prior research experience is required.
This is a paid, part-time position ($24/hour), onsite at our Boston location (1 Constitution Rd., Charlestown, MA), starting in November.
Shifts run Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM and 2:00 PM–6:00 PM, with a minimum commitment of 4 shifts per week and willingness to work during the Winter and Summer breaks around exams. Double shifts are optional, and hours can flex around your class schedule. Evening and weekend shifts may be added as the site expands.
