About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to lead NeuroNYC's fundraising strategy and help build the financial foundation needed to grow the organization. This is a high-ownership volunteer leadership role for someone who is excited to actively raise funds, build relationships, and create sustainable revenue streams for a growing nonprofit. You will work closely with NeuroNYC leadership to develop and execute fundraising efforts across major gifts, sponsorships, grants, foundations, government opportunities, corporate partners, investors, angels, venture firms, and individual donors. This role is not just strategic. We are looking for someone who can actively move things forward, make asks, build a pipeline, and help ensure NeuroNYC has the funding needed to support its mission. Time Commitment Flexible, but this role requires consistent involvement and follow-through. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can commit several hours per week and attend key NeuroNYC events and meetings when possible. Team Support This is a leadership role, but you will not be expected to fundraise alone. The Head of Fundraising will have the opportunity to build and manage a small fundraising team, typically 2-3 volunteers, to support donor research, outreach, grant research, sponsorship materials, follow-ups, and event-based fundraising efforts. You will be responsible for setting priorities, delegating work, and making sure the team is moving toward clear fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead NeuroNYC's overall fundraising strategy
  • Build and manage a pipeline of donors, sponsors, foundations, investors, angels, VCs, and institutional funders
  • Lead outreach to major donors, corporate sponsors, service providers, and strategic supporters
  • Create fundraising materials, including donor decks, sponsorship decks, one-pagers, and supporter tier packages
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities, foundation funding, and government funding
  • Design sustainable revenue models, such as membership tiers, donor circles, sponsorship packages, and event-based giving
  • Help create donation strategies for events, including live asks, donor follow-ups, and supporter engagement
  • Work with leadership to define annual fundraising goals and track progress
  • Represent NeuroNYC in conversations with potential funders and partners

Requirements

  • We care most about finding someone who is proactive, reliable, and excited to build. Beyond that:
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable making asks and building relationships
  • Organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple fundraising workstreams
  • Strategic thinker who can also execute
  • Comfortable with cold outreach and follow-up
  • Interested in neurotechnology, brain health, startups, science, or the NYC innovation ecosystem
  • Able to work closely with leadership and take real ownership

Nice to Have

  • Any of the following is a plus, but not required:
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, philanthropy, or advancement
  • Experience with major gifts, sponsorships, grants, or donor relations
  • Background in sales, investor relations, partnerships, or business development
  • Familiarity with foundations, government funding, or institutional funders
  • Experience creating pitch decks, sponsorship decks, or fundraising materials
  • Familiarity with donor CRMs or prospecting tools such as Apollo, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platforms
  • Existing relationships in venture capital, philanthropy, startups, healthcare, biotech, or neurotechnology
